Meet Dr. Kristin Anderson

For some people, their vision of a person who goes to therapy is Jack Nicholson in The Shining. The truth is I don’t see crazy people. I see wise, resourceful and high functioning people who are struggling in their life in some way. They realize what they’ve been doing isn’t working and they want options for improvement.

"If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always got."

Asking for help takes courage and insight. Courage to take the initial steps to seek help and push past the associated stigmas. Insight is required to welcome change and challenge yourself to make positive self-improvements. Our culture promotes pharmaceuticals to fix problems, and while sometimes unavoidable, in order to achieve long-term mental health improvement. there are many more facets to consider.

We will work together to explore your innate strengths and apply them to move you in a healthier direction. I will shine a light on the paths that may work better for you, and you choose the direction. I challenge your stuck thinking and show you how your feelings are messages to guide you. We don’t always look at the past, but it's often a valuable predictor of the present and future. Together we will assess your physical well-being (sleep, nutrition), environment (social support, life events, stressors) and mental state (emotions, thoughts, beliefs). I believe therapy should be practical and interventions doable. Together we find what works and learn to accept what can’t be changed.

Information about my education, experience and training can be found here.

Tele-sessions and Skype can be great tools when distance or schedule makes it hard to make a face-to-face appointment.  Many people utilize sessions by phone or Skype very effectively. Please contact me at drk@drkristinanderson.com to discuss these options.

I see smart, wise people who are just stuck somewhere and they've chosen to hire a professional to help them.
